OMG! I have an intercooler on my car. This guy in WI had a Saab IC on his Legacy turbo and sold it, so the IC was just sitting around. I owe him a case of beer, but well worth the cost. He had modified it to better fit the Legacy and I got the pipes w/it. I put it on this weekend for the last autocrosses, it works well. It still has to be modified for the BOV, but that shouldn't be hard.

I bought a used set of TEIN HAs from a friend's GC8 2.5RS and installed them last night. While the spring rates are a bit low (7f 6r), the ride is very good and even closer to what i wanted with the original coilover set i had and the DMS 40mm.

Now i have to get prices on springs and tweak the dampening settings, but i'm in awe of how well this system actually works.

Kizerian got his front end whacked into a curb on a Saturday event, it's not a pretty sight, but i hope it's back together for next year.

I have some pictures here, but Micro has the uber setup for that, and i'll let him put them up if he gets a few minutes.

In other news, i'm selling my DMS 40s. Don't need them anymore since i'll be racing the FB for the forseable future.

Ok, so they aren't the ATS wheels I wanted originally, or the Kosei K-1's either......but they look good, they're 10.8 lbs, and I got some Azenis on there!

Well the trany is in, along with the hydralic clutch, '01 RS rear LSD/axles, stock Legacy turbo flywheel, Clutchmasters Stage III clutch kit, S.S. clutch line & STi motor mounts. Do to the transmission crossmember size the STi trans. mount would not fit(pics of that coming). One of my motor mounts was broken...pics of that coming too. So far I have about 650 miles on it and I raced Saturday w/it. It feels really smooth and the clutch feels great, which it should for how much it was.

I did OK at the autocross, except that 1 cone :p It wasn't a points event, more of a test & tune so I got about 10 runs. I was about 1 sec off of the other 2 SM cars....turbo civic hatches running race tires, massive camber and more experienced drivers.

I hope to get the Cusco camber plates on this week and find an RS trans. crossmember so I can get that mount in.

and the car has now been named Project Frankenstein...

Well, Wendover was quite an experience....first the coilover issues, getting up @ 4:30am to make it to Wendover in time for late registration.....then there was the severe ass kicking I got out there by all the Stupid-roo's. But it was fun and a good experience. Thanks to Keith, Kizerian, Benson for helping me get the coilovers in.......and to Hans & Sean @ TDC for staying late Friday to make sure I was able to actually get out there!

I think i'm going to retire the wagon from service as a car i use in events, and invest in making the 84 GSL-SE of Nate and Blake's more competitive.

Racing the daily driver only gets you so far until you start breaking things, a lot. I don't really want to get that far.

Now that i have a possible alternative, i think it's wise to explore other options. Since i really haven't driven a fast RWD car, i'd like to get comfortable in the 7 and perhaps try out everone else's cars at some point in the future.

Speaking of the 7, they just replaced the cat with a test pipe from Racing Beat after finding a 25PSI backpressure problem. It's a bit louder, but faster as a result. Modified ignition setup to remove the pointless distributor setup will follow soon. The AC is being removed as i speak, and an electric fan will soon replace the prop. Suspension upgrades are a bit pricey, but Koni is goood stuff, and there's so much nice equipment still out there for the FB/SA.

So i was going towards the freeway in Clearfield, and getting in the turning lane, and these stupid bastards had stopped to let a CRX get into Carl's Jr. Well, since i still had the right of way, and was going about 25mph, yielding this right of way wasn't exactly a piece of cake, so after much braking, i scratched my front bumper a bit, and totalled a CRX.

Idaho plate, no insurance, expired registration.

HAHAHA!

But I missed the Bourne Identity matinee...

Ordered new Kumho Ecstas! They should be the new compound.... Looking forward to my first new set of race tires!!!!! The 510 is having teething problems. I think the front main seal went out, and the car is overheating. Also I think I need to re do one of the valve seals!!! Can't wait until it is sorted so that I can pull my head out of my butt and start driving better!!!

Well my tranny, rear LSD and clutch assembly have all been ordered. So hopefully in 2 weeks I'll have a quiet tranny that is way stronger and geared a little higher. The STi motor/tranny mounts will go in at that time also. I can't wait to be able to drive again w/o being worried my tranny is going to explode at any moment. I know that's not unusual for a Subaru, but I don't drive like Benson ;)

I still have not seen the issue. Also, I didn't realize that my car was the only GC8 Subaru in there. Hopefully thaat can generate me some sympathy votes ;)

If by some slim chance I do get in I'll be looking for some final prep help and will be stopping in SLC on my way out to Cali.
I'll need to be sporting some big ARG! sticker too...
later, time to buy ramen so I can afford to buy stuff for the car.

The Techtonics exhaust for the Scirocco showed up today, and I just couldn't stand how loud the old muffler with a hole in it was. So the new exhuast is on....sooooooo much quieter....almost too quiet! Everything does sound way better though.

More parts are on the way to fix the broken things on the Scirocco...oh the money pit!

Well I begin my assualt on the Chicago regoin SCCA May 19th. Since the dealership here are asses and no one I've asked here can give me someplace else to take my Subaru, my tranny will not be fixed in time. Think happy thoughts that it will last another week & 1/2.

I am going to go to a shop on Sat. to see if they can finish the IC piping. Also, see if they can sort out the S-AFC problem. I ordered some Falken Azenis for the Legacy wheels to race on, they will be here by monday. I'm going to try to get the coilover sleaves on next week that I've had for months.

What happened on the way back from Wendover? somebody e-mail me with that one.
